"3v3 Soccer" is claimed to be the fastest growing form of soccer in the World. Its greatest popularity is in the United States, where hundreds, and perhaps thousands of Tournaments take place each year; however, it is also now begun to catch on in many other countries.
This style of soccer is more commonly referred to as a "small-sided" game, as compared to a full game with larger teams. The field used is smaller than a regulation soccer pitch, instead it typically is 30 yards wide by 40 yards long, although these dimensions vary quite a bit when the game is played indoors due to the varied styles and sizes of indoor pitches. It uses a much smaller goal than full-sided soccer. In most 3v3, there is no keeper, although one variant, 3v3 Micro Soccer, does use a keeper.
It is a much faster paced, and higher scoring game than traditional full sided soccer. The speed of the attack, the use of triangulation, and the strategies bring aspects of Hockey into the game. The quick shift from one end of the field to the other after a goal is scored, or upon loss of possession is reminiscent of Basketball. It requires the blending of individual skills with teamwork.
Its gain in popularity is largely because every member of the team gets equal playing time, and equal touches on the ball. All players on the field are a part of the play. Because of the speed of the game, and the fact that players are constantly in motion, there are frequent substitutions. A typical player may be rotated on six times or more in one game. There are no permanently assigned positions as there are in full sided soccer, giving each team member equal status and equal importance. This helps to develop individual skills.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Germantown Legends Soccer program is seeking high-quality, energetic volunteers to coach and manage REC teams for children ages 4 to 19.
Volunteers are the cornerstone of the Future Legends and Jr. Legends (recreational soccer) programs. As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to teach valuable life-long lessons to children of Germantown. Self-confidence, sportsmanship, learning to be part of a team and promoting physical fitness are all values volunteer coaches can instill in the lives of local children. While over 80 local parents volunteering their time to coach (or manage) in this program each year, we never seem to have enough.
Securing coaches and other parent volunteers in advance of the season is of great necessity when organizing a recreational sports program. Join us, and give something back to your community. Being a volunteer allows you to make new friends, build new skills and help Germantown children play at home.
Be a coach for your child’s team and share moments that last a lifetime.
Remember, the Future Legends and Jr. Legends are RECREATIONAL soccer programs. Our goal is to keep sports fun for children while emphasizing basic skill development and physical fitness. These are NOT competitive, intense, sports leagues. Our coaches are charged with teaching basic skills and reminding kids to have fun!
If you are on the fence or nervous about committing, don't be. We provide several tools to help prepare you… from weekly Skill sessions for players, Practice Plans and Ideas, Coaches’ Games, to even Coaching Courses.
You won't be alone. We encourage each team to have a minimum of two coaches and one team manager.
- Head Coach
- Assistant Coach
- Team Manager
If you have questions, please send an email to info@GermantownLegends.com.
If you'd like to volunteer, please register yourself online as a volunteer coach or manager.

SOCCER DOES BEGIN AT HOME
Give your child a 'leg up' by sharing the videos and info we've posted online before, during and after the season....
"We can't emphasize enough the important role that parents play in participating in their Childs development before entering into organized play. It's like teaching your child to learn the alphabet, words, vocabulary and simple sentence structure before expecting them to read a book on their own. BALL MASTERY plays a crucial role in laying down the FOUNDATION upon which the entire game is taught and learnt.”
- Tom Byers
BALL MASTERY...

Ball Mastery is NOT just about developing soccer players… there are ‘education’ components!
|
"Deep learning, longterm memory, brain growth, self control, focusing, concentration, self belief, thinking, developing neural pathways, discipline, self regulating, cohesive brain functioning, cognitive development: Just a few benefits from practicing ball mastery."
- Tom Byers
