VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Germantown Legends Soccer program is seeking high-quality, energetic volunteers to coach and manage REC teams for children ages 4 to 19.

Volunteers are the cornerstone of the Future Legends and Jr. Legends (recreational soccer) programs.  As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to teach valuable life-long lessons to children of Germantown.  Self-confidence, sportsmanship, learning to be part of a team and promoting physical fitness are all values volunteer coaches can instill in the lives of local children.  While over 80 local parents volunteering their time to coach (or manage) in this program each year, we never seem to have enough.

Securing coaches and other parent volunteers in advance of the season is of great necessity when organizing a recreational sports program.  Join us, and give something back to your community.  Being a volunteer allows you to make new friends, build new skills and help Germantown children play at home.

Be a coach for your child’s team and share moments that last a lifetime.

Remember, the Future Legends and Jr. Legends are RECREATIONAL soccer programs.  Our goal is to keep sports fun for children while emphasizing basic skill development and physical fitness.  These are NOT competitive, intense, sports leagues. Our coaches are charged with teaching basic skills and reminding kids to have fun!

If you are on the fence or nervous about committing, don't be. We provide several tools to help prepare you… from weekly Skill sessions for players, Practice Plans and Ideas, Coaches’ Games, to even Coaching Courses.

You won't be alone.  We encourage each team to have a minimum of two coaches and one team manager.

  • Head Coach
  • Assistant Coach
  • Team Manager

If you have questions, please send an email to info@GermantownLegends.com.

If you'd like to volunteer, please register yourself online as a volunteer coach or manager.

Head Coach*

  • Monitor practice scrimmages (small-sided games)
  • Focuses on a substitution pattern during games
  • Ensure equal playing time for all players regardless of the score
  • Positively encourage players
  • Be a role model to the players and parents
  • Have FUN!

Assistant Coach

  • Helps to corral the players not playing in the game
  • Assist in the supervision of games and practices
  • In absence of the head coach, assumes the lead ‘on-field’ responsibilities
  • Be a role model to the players and parents
  • Have FUN!

Team Manager*

  • Manage communication (regarding games and practices) to the parents of the team
  • Organize the after game snack and drink schedule
  • With the help of other parents, organize the ‘end of the party’
  • Encourage other parents to get involved
  • Follow club's social media accounts including GroupMe
  • Have FUN!

* Each team MUST have.

To register yourself online, look for the following program.... 'REC COACH or TEAM MANAGER for the 2020 Fall REC Soccer Season'

BENEFITS IF YOU VOLUNTEER... WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DO NOT VOLUNTEER...
  • Your child's team has an ideal coach-to-player ratio, providing more playing time, thus gaining even more soccer skills
  • Better communication for your team
  • Be a role model to the players and parents
  • Maximizes your child's FUN in the game (and your family's)
  • Rosters and Match schedules can be provided in a timely manner
  • Head Coaches' kids get reduced or FREE registration (more info)
  • Your child's team might have more kids than are ideal and feels too crowded!!
  • Playing time is reduced
  • Resources are stretched thin
  • You might NOT get communications when you would like... Team managers take the extra work off the coaches!

By registering as a volunteer (Head Coach, Assistant Coach and or Team Manager), you are assuring a spot for your child in one of our soccer programs.

For Future Legends preseason 'player' training sessions dates and times for each age group, please visit the Germantown Legends Club Calendar... CALENDAR.GermantownLegends.com.

All preseason 'player' training sessions are run by the Legends staff.
